How do you donate to the temple of Avo in Fable 1?

To get the sword, as far as I know you need to level up 3 times in all your strength stats from the first time you try to pull it, or when you’re 100% in strength.
About the temple, there’s that circular altar thing that the two guys are looking at. Press A, then move the left joystick up to tell how much you want to donate, it’s exactly like playing bar games. If that doesn’t work I don’t know what you’re having problems with.
