Even if the protesters are cleared out of the airport this weekend it remains to be seen what damage they have done or what damage is done clearing them out. If your flight departs then it's possible you will land at another airport and be bused to Bangkok. Be aware though that you could be flying into a coup and there is a very good chance that this coup will not be as peaceful as the 2006 one. read: Probably not very good. I would check with the airlines. If for some reason your flight does not land at BKK, it might possibly be redirected to Utapao, which is near Pattaya, and about 2 hr drive to downtown Bangkok. If you end destination is somewhere else, there are also other airports in the country operating and able to take international flights; Chiang Mai, Phuket, are two...perhaps more.
