Do NOT buy a bus ticket to Cambodia from a travel agent. At the very least you will be ripped off on the ticket price. At worst (which is likely) you'll be put onto one of the famous "scam buses" that ply this route where you'll be picked up at your hotel in a nice A/C bus, only to be shifted onto an old rattler with no air conditioning once you're on the outskirts of Bangkok.

A lot of travel agents arrange this trip and a very large number of them operate scams on it.

You should be able to easily buy a ticket on a government bus at the bus station if you arrive about an hour before it departs. Expect to pay between 120-300 baht for the trip depending on the class of service you go on and how crowded it is.

For more information, run a search for the website Tales of Asia. It has good information on this trip and the scams that the travel agents try and pull.
