Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia aren’t expensive – there are numerous beach and hill resorts which may be romantic. For Jan, just make sure the location is not experiencing the monsoon period (year end Dec – Feb); for instance Club Med Cherating, Malaysia East Coast is closed because of the monsoon.
Northern Thailand is chilly and cool at the end of the year; they’ve got romantic hill resorts there.

Amanpulo Resort in the Philippines.
It is nestled in a private island and is teeming with luxurious rooms, restaurants, and water sports. It sits right on top of a lagoon so you just enjoy the views. Obviously, there are also beaches and diving spots here.
Since it is a private resort, and since the Philippines does not have the influx of tourists in both Thailand or Bali, it is relatively peaceful and relaxing in this place. A lot of Hollywood big stars have secretly stole away from the spotlight into this island for a couple of times since this resort was built.
Then after a week in Amanpulo, you can proceed to Manila (Philippines), home of the world’s largest malls, to buy all the new stuff you need to create your home, and savor the colorful and festive Philippine Christmas season, which is considered as the longest in the world, as well as the cooler winds and fresh air during this season.

Bali. Thailand.
Lovely places, just google 5 star resorts in those places, and a lot of them are at a great price.
JW Marriot resort and spa in Phuket is my favorite.

Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia are great and easy destinations. You can spend your time in great resorts and experience great cultures. But if you want to experience distinct culture then Thailand or Indonesia would be the best choice. You can choose Malaysia if you want to get the lovely nature experience.
Philippines offers you a new different alternative, they have Boracay as their famous beach/ resort experience. Amanpulo resort as suggested by Matt is truly great as it is part of the ultra luxury Aman Resorts chain but very expensive indeed.
Vietnam’s Halong bay or Cambodia’s Siem Reap also great if you are looking for a nice, quiet yet traditional atmosphere.
All the destination mentioned offers you great romantic honeymoon experience, the key is to know what your specific passion and find the good valued 5 stars resort
